Re: The Altec User's Board Free Marketplace !

hello all,i am still looking for additional altec dts 645a-f or altec dts 945a-f point source speaker systems, loaded or just the mty trapazodial-shaped cabinets preferably located in the southeastern region of the united states, but any location nation-wide would be of interest.i also have a need of at least one loaded or mty altec a700 or altec a800 speaker cabinet(s).this is also a trapazodial shaped cabinet that was a latecomer in the altec family that has occasionally been mistakenly identified with earlier altec speaker systems such as the altec a7,altec a8,etc.i am located in birmingham, alabama and this area has virtually been stripped of any loose altec, save for a few institutional systems which are usually component systems made up of bass-horn cabinets and multicell/mantaray horn arrays.also altec's former competitors are chipping away at those left with their advanced(really?) line array systems.please excuse any spelling or grammer errors missed.thanks for reading.let me know if you have any candidates for consideration.

Re: The Altec User's Board Free Marketplace !

Moving and it's time to move some equipment off to someone that might use it more than me.

Altec 604B's. One has original cone the other has a replacement cone. No crossovers. I built a custom set of speakers (stonehenge III) with custom crossovers in light oak wood. Will sell speakers without cabinets

I also have 2 802-8G's with 23744 diaphragm. What I have is the top to 2 model 19 speakers (bought without the bottoms) and Altec 811 horns if your interested. Will sell 802-8G's alone

I also have a 604C with original cone and original crossover if you're interested.

I have a set of model 19's that I listen to and some additional Altec's and need to move the extra stuff out to a good home.

Re: The Altec User's Board Free Marketplace !

hello all,i thought i would break the posting ice and post my ongoing need for some(one or more) altec dts 645a-f or altec dts 945a-f system(s),complete or parts.this would include the mty trapazodial cabinets or completely outfitted with all of the components.i know altec had to have made more than the six complete systems that i have been able to acquire.i believe the roadrunner case company made the cabinets for altec.they are not willing to deal with a unaffiliated (altec that is) entity, although the altec corporation is now defunct.maybe it has to do with legal liabilities.i do not know for sure.thanks for viewing my post and please excuse any misspelling on my part.darrell

Re: The Altec User's Board Free Marketplace !

Free 828 cabinets in rough but restore-able shape. Made from 3/4 inch plywood. Very solid. They are blocking my entrance into my garage and have to go. I really don't want to chop them up.
    Pick up in Burlington, NJ

For Sale: Pair of 1505B Horns and 30166 Horn Throats

Hello, I'm selling a pair of Altec 1505Bs with throats and thought I would start here in case any hardcore Altec fans are interested. $1500 for the pair for local pickup/delivery only. I'm in the Chicago area. Packing and shipping would be very difficult, risky and likely very expensive. Part of the mounting flange on one of the throats is broken, and that is shown in the picture, but the throats are easily mountable in the usual way using standard Altec hardware. Otherwise, the horns are in very good used condition. I have more and better pictures if required, but they are too large to upload here. Thanks for your attention. John

    SOLD

Re: The Altec User's Board Free Marketplace !

Picked these up somewhere along the way and haven't used them yet so it's time to let them back in the wild.
When I got them I drilled the 1" side to accommodate the 2 hole Altec bolt pattern. This was professionally done on a Bridgeport mill by a tool maker (Me).

Flange Dia on the 1" side is 3.9" with the Altec 2 hole bolt pattern and another bolt pattern with 3X 1/4" holes drilled on a 2-1/4" bolt circle.

Flange Dia. on the 2" side is 4.7" with 4X tapped holes on a 4" bolt circle. Holes are tapped either 1/4" fine thread or 6mm. To lazy to check at the moment but can do if it's important. There is a lot of room to add your own bolt pattern if your so inclined.

Overall length is 3" so the expansion rate (cone angle) is not as abrupt as most adapters I've seen. Heavy cast aluminum construction but there is no indication of the manufacture on them. Probably had stickers at one point.

Asking 50 bucks plus shipping from NJ.
